There are very few rugby boots on the market that are designed specifically for women’s feet (you can read about the ones that are available in our women’s rugby boot guide). But that isn’t stopping women and girls from playing incredible rugby!

We’ve gathered together some of the best boots worn by players at the very top of the game to bring you a bit of rugby boot inspiration and hopefully help make finding your next pair a little bit easier.

Most of the boots mentioned are available at varying price points (often called academy, pro or elite etc). It’s worth exploring the full range to find options that best suits your budget and playing needs.

Adidas Avaglides are firm favourites of the Red Roses, including Holly Aitchison, Jess Breach, Sadia Kabeya, Kelsey Clifford and Alex Matthews. They’re also one of the very few pairs of boots that are actually female specific.

Nike Mercurial
Superfly 10 Elite

The boot of choice for World Cup winner Lucy packer is Nike’s Mercurial Superfly 10 in blue/baltic. We love this boot for firm ground and especially for backs. Although this colour is no longer available there are others to choose from and you can also opt to design your own.

England captain Zoe Stratford and Mo Hunt both wore White Adidas Adizero boots for the World Cup final. Like Lucy Packer’s Nike Mercurials, this colour is no longer available but you can still get them in updated colour ways.

We’ve loved seeing Ellie Kildunne collaborate with Canterbury to bring out her very own rugby boot. She wore the custom Speed Elite boots in the World Cup with their distinctive ‘Show Time’ heels. The Speed Elite is now also available in a range of new colourways.

Women’s Rugby Roadmap ambassador, Olympian and Saracens star Deborah Wills has a firm favourite when it comes to rugby boot brands. Her most trusted boots are from Asics, specifically Asics Lethal Tigreor and Menace boots.

Women’s Rugby Roadmap ambassador, and USA international, Hallie Taufoou is hooked on Puma hybrids. She’s worn them for the last 3-4 years and she reckons they’ll be her boot of choice for the rest of her career!

Scottish scrum half Leia Brebner-Holden wears Mizuno Morelia boots in White/Blue Laser. This colourway has had a slight update with a number of colour and price options available.

canterbury x PWR

Canterbury partnered with PWR for the 2024/25 season and they have been backing women’s rugby in England ever since. The partnership sees them provide boots for every player in the league including Women’s Rugby Roadmap ambassador, and welsh international, Courtney Keight. Although they don’t currently offer female-specific footwear, their boots are purpose-built for rugby, whereas some of the options mentioned above are technically designed for football.
